Version 1.2.4 from the popular framework Ruby on Rails has just been released. It contains additional deprecation notices, security fixes and some minor performance improvements. All users of 1.2.3 are advised to upgrade.

Maya, Lightwave, Mental Ray, Blender, Pixie, 3Delight, Bmrt, Aqsis, After Effects, Shake, Nuke and Terragen as well as almost every Video or 3D Tool that supports command-line rendering can be used for distributed rendering with drqueue. It is free, it is open source. And Apple Compressor as of Version 2 supports command line-rendering. Any idea if it would be possible to run some 20 old pentium2 or pentium3 machines with intel-OSX (osx86) and have a distributed MPEG2 rendering? Yellow told me that that’s not possible with such codecs, as they are “not really frame-per-frame based”. Hmmm…

Transformers were cool when i was young. Now the sorta suck, but still the paper-edition rocks: “Paperformers! Transformers made out of paper. And they actually transform. I love finding cool things to make out of paper.”
